Patient Navigation

CBCC provides navigation to mammography screening providers convenient to where you live. While we no longer provide direct screening services, our patient navigators will help women find a screening location convenient to them, including the Betty Lou Ourisman Breast Health Center at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Our patient navigators are dedicated to breaking down barriers to care and ensuring that patients receive the support and knowledge needed to successfully navigate the health care system. Navigation is considered complete only when no additional breast health services are needed, or when a patient has completed treatment for breast cancer.
Our Patient Navigators are Trained to:
- Guide patients through the health care system
- Help breast patients without insurance apply for health care support
- Explain and arrange diagnostic mammography services
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families
- Ensure that follow-up care is available
- Help patients get appropriate social services
- Help locate resources and support to meet patient needs
Our Patient Navigation Program:
- Increases access to breast health services and information
- Enhances patients’ healthcare experience
- Reduces the number of delayed or missed appointments
- Makes health care more efficient and effective
